Bolt Action Germany

10 box sets · 99 kits we track

The Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS across every theatre of the war - the largest, most varied painting project Bolt Action offers.

German forces fought from the Arctic Circle to the North African desert over six years, and the range reflects it: standard Heer infantry in field grey, Waffen-SS units in printed camouflage smocks, Fallschirmjager paratroopers in their own distinct rig, and the tropical khaki of the Afrika Korps. Armour changed too - panzer grey gave way to dark yellow (Dunkelgelb) as the base tank colour from 1943, often broken up with sprayed or sponged patches of red-brown and olive green. That spread of theatres is the real appeal for a painter: a German collection can be one consistent field-grey force, or a cabinet of entirely different-looking detachments - snow-camouflaged infantry next to desert tanks next to SS smocks - without ever leaving the same nation.

On the table: A well-rounded, well-equipped force across every theatre, with strong armour and support weapons behind disciplined infantry.
