The US Army from Normandy to the Pacific - olive drab uniforms, the M1 helmet, and the Sherman tank in bulk.
American infantry fought in olive drab wool, under the distinctive rounded silhouette of the M1 helmet, with airborne troops in the 82nd and 101st Divisions adding jump uniforms and para-boots to the same base colour. The Pacific theatre reused much of the same olive drab kit in very different terrain and climate. Armour is dominated by the Sherman, produced in enormous numbers and painted in a simple olive drab with a white star - an easy, satisfying vehicle to paint well, and the backbone of a well-supported, combined-arms force.
