Horus Heresy Mechanicum
2 box sets · 30 kits we track
The Horus Heresy's Machine Cult - archmagi, battle-automata and siege engines from an age when the priesthood still built new things.
The Heresy-era Mechanicum is a heavier, stranger force than its 41st millennium successor. Its core is battle-automata - Castellax, Thanatar and Vorax war robots - directed by archmagi and supported by Thallax cohorts, tracked tanks and knight-scale walkers. Model count is low and model size is high, so this is an army of individually interesting pieces rather than infantry blocks. Much of the range is resin, which is worth knowing before you commit - it needs washing, careful pinning and a bit of patience. The payoff is a scheme built on metals, forge-world livery and glowing eyes that looks like nothing else on a Heresy table.
On the table: A slow, armoured force built around robots and heavy weapons - resilient, hard-hitting and short on mobility.
