The most famous Space Marine chapter - disciplined, blue-armoured and the standard by which the others are measured.

The Ultramarines wrote the book the rest of the Imperium's marines fight by, and they are led again by their returned primarch. If you want the definitive Space Marine experience, this is it: no unusual doctrine, no curse, no eccentric structure, just the archetype done properly. That makes them the most supported army in the hobby. Every tutorial, transfer sheet and starter set assumes them, so a beginner is never short of guidance, and the blue-and-gold scheme is straightforward to reach a clean standard with. Experienced painters treat that as the challenge - an Ultramarines force lives or dies on neatness, because there is nothing to hide behind.

On the table: The balanced marine army - solid at range and in melee, flexible, with no glaring weakness or specialism.
